Η Heron Control Systems ιδρύθηκε από στελέχη με πολλά χρόνια εμπειρίας στον τομέα του βιομηχανικού αυτοματισμού.

Για την επιλογή του ονόματος μας HERON, μας ενέπνευσε ο μεγάλος εφευρέτης και μηχανικός της Αρχαιότητας: Ήρων ο Αλεξανδρινός….
Ο Ήρων ο Αλεξανδρεύς ήταν μηχανικός και γεωμέτρης. Έζησε στην Αλεξάνδρεια της Αιγύπτου περίπου τον 1ο π.Χ. ή 1ο μ.Χ. αιώνα. Η πιο διάσημη εφεύρεση του είναι η αιολόσφαιρα ή ατμοστρόβιλος, η πρώτη ατμομηχανή στην ιστορία. Υπήρξε διευθυντής της περίφημης Ανώτατης Τεχνικής Σχολής της Αλεξάνδρειας, το πρώτο πολυτεχνείο που είχε ιδρυθεί στο Μουσείο για μηχανικούς. Λέγεται ότι ακολουθούσε την θεωρία των ατόμων και τη Μηχανική Σύνταξη του Φίλωνα. Ιδέες του Κτησιβίου ήταν βάση για κάποια από τα έργα του. Ήταν γνωστός και ως Ήρων ο Κτησιβίου (ως μαθητή, πιθανότατα, του μεγάλου μαθηματικού και εφευρέτη Κτησιβίου), και Ήρων ο Μηχανικός.
